OpenDaylight 2023: A Year of New Contributors

23/11/2023

As we reflect on the year 2023, OpenDaylight (ODL) stands out as a thriving ecosystem, with an increase of new contributors fostering an environment of innovation and progress.

The growing contributor community reflects a substantial interest among developers to actively participate in the OpenDaylight ecosystem, to make a significant impact and add value to the ODL development.

As the impact of new contributors has grown by 71% over the past year, the ODL community is becoming more vibrant and productive, showcasing a collective commitment to make a positive impact through technology, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, contributing to the growth and development of the open-source landscape.

The increase in productivity is also mirrored in the heightened activity within the RESTCONF OpenAPI rework project which has experienced over 100 contributions, underscoring the significant impact of fresh perspectives on project evolution.

The ODL landscape is ripe with technical opportunities that attract new developers. From the OpenAPI rework project to advancements in Kubernetes integration – these opportunities not only contribute to project growth but also offer valuable learning experiences for those involved, speeding up the future evolution of ODL and ensuring that it remains at the forefront of open-source innovation.

Since the beginning, PANTHEON.tech has played a pivotal role in driving the direction of dozens of OpenDaylight projects, and we are proud to say that our developers stand behind a multitude of projects, leaving a lasting impact.
